Friday 13th Blog Hop: (U.S.)

Friday 13th Blog Hop

Friday 13th has long been a day of fear and superstition.  That's why I have teamed up with Red Headed Bookworm and a group of other lovely bloggers to offer you all some hope with fabulous giveaways!

I remember as a child taking Friday 13th very seriously. My entire elementary school would be heatedly discussing the do's and don'ts  and sharing their own harrowing tales of Friday the 13ths that had come and gone. As a fairly gullible and cautionary kid, I did my best to avoid stepping on cracks, walking underneath ladders, and crossing the path of a black cat!

As an adult, I don't really sweat this day anymore, but the possibility for unlucky mischief still lingers in the back of my mind. What if this time... something really does happen!? No, but really, Friday 13th has mostly become another kinda fun silly holiday that occurs every once and awhile for me.

Even though I'm Irish, the supposed Luck has never been with me on this legendary day. Which is why I have chosen to give away a book I didn't have that much luck with in the hopes that the winner will have better luck with it. As this book has been well liked by bloggers I respect, I'm going to give someone else a chance to give it a loving home. What book might this be? Well just check out the...

Wicked Giveaway of:
 Matched
Ally Condie
Matched Series #1
Genre: Young Adult, Dystopia

Description From Goodreads
Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

Although I didn't enjoy this book as much as I'd hoped, it wasn't without its potential. I plan on giving this series another shot by reading the sequel Crossed when I get an opening in my review schedule. I hope whoever wins this giveaway will love it, because it is a gorgeous looking book! If you are interested in my review, you can read it here.

Giveaway Details
This Giveaway is open to U.S. Residents only please as I am mailing it directly from my home and not The Book Depository.

The winner of this giveaway will receive my gently used hardback copy of Matched by Ally Condie! This book was purchased, by me, from Goodwill used and is still in great condition with very minor dust jacket damage which is mostly limited to the top and bottom of the binding portion where it was touched when removed from my bookshelf. Otherwise this is still a gorgeous looking copy!

Entries can be gained in a variety of ways as stated in the Rafflecopter. In order to be fair to everyone, all entries will be checked so please be honest! If I find an invalid entry, it will be removed from the giveaway. As following Wickedly Bookish is a mandatory entry, if I do not find your name in my list of followers, all your entries will be removed from the giveaway. I would much rather skip over this stuff and just get to the fun, but it has happened before, so I need to state it all before the entries are collected.

Winners will be chosen within 24 hours of giveaway's end and will be notified by email. If you are a winner, you will be expected to claim your prize within 48 hours of receipt of email or another winner will be chosen.

I personally have never had any problems on "freaky Friday" but I have a friend who also works in the property management business and her buildings always had things go wrong. Floods, elevator cables breaking you name it it happened!

I don't really associate Friday the 13th to anything bad... Seems just like any other day to me. Plus, 13 is my lucky number.

My son was born on Friday, October 13, 2000. He was the only one of my 4 children who had to spend time in the NICU because his lungs weren't fully developed. We have teased him that it was because it was bad luck to be born on Friday the 13th. He's 11 now and very healthy, so I don't really believe it. Today is his 1/2 birthday though! Thanks for the chance to win. I loved Matched, but read a library copy.

I guess the one superstition I always follow is spilling salt. If I happen to I always chuck the salt over my left shoulder. I don't even notice I do it until afterwards most of the time lol.

Can you please remove my entries from this giveaway? I didn't notice it's US only (the BD shipping rule confused me a little).
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks!

I always think of bad luck either by letting black cats cross your path or if you spill salt not throwing some over your shoulder.
